About Me
Who is rb|it Consulting?
I've been working in IT since 1994, and I've risen through the ranks from IT Administrator to IT Management. I've learnt a great deal about IT systems; but also about budgeting, staff management, legislation, training, and most importantly, how to make people and computers work well together.
Currently working part time at the University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education, I also work with local businesses and educational institutions locally and across the south east.
How do I contact rb|it Consulting?
- The best way to reach me is by email, which will reach me where-ever I am via my iPhone. Full contact details (including phone, postal contact details and company information) can be found here.
So what's so special about rb|it Consulting?
- I don't sell hardware, software or technical support, which allows me to recommend those systems and services with no conflict of interest, something which no systems supplier can do. I also maintain a strict ethical policy and do not enter into any agreements (financial or otherwise) with any system or service suppliers. If I recommend something it's because I genuinely believe it is the best option, not because I make a margin from doing so.
- I have a history of operating under very tight budget restrictions, and because of that I'm experienced at finding the best value business IT solutions, and sometimes they're free solutions. Some IT companies reject free solutions because they're "not a serious business system", which translated means "we won't make any money out of it".
- Any work I do will focus both on systems and people. Many IT systems fail to perform to their full potential because there wasn't enough attention paid to the users when designing it, or training people to use it. Computers are there to work for people, not the other way round, and my priority is to make sure people are confident and efficient when using their IT systems.
